Number of Awards & Eligibility: 13 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be in an accredited bachelor's of science in nursing program, master's of science in nursing program, or doctoral nursing program.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be a resident of Hawaii.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must be a full-time student (12 credits per semester for undergraduate students; 9 credits per semester for graduate students).
  7. Must be in a B.S.N. or M.S.N. nursing program at UH-Manoa, UH-Hilo or Hawai'i Pacific University, or a Ph.D program in Hawai'i or on the U.S. mainland.
  8. Must be a college junior or senior or a graduate student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for college juniors, seniors, and graduate nursing students who have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Students must be in a B.S.N. or M.S.N. nursing program at UH-Manoa, UH-Hilo or Hawai'i Pacific University, or a Ph.D program in Hawai'i or on the U.S. mainland.

Additional Information: The Margaret Jones Memorial Nursing Fund had its start in 1917, through a concert sponsored by the Hawai'i Nurses Club (now called the Hawai'i Nurses Association). The proceeds of the concert were used to establish a fund for nurses in need. The fund was named for Margaret Jones, a nurse killed when the S.S. Lusitania was sunk by a German submarine during World War I and now benefits nursing students. Preference may be given to members of the Hawai'i Nurses Association All applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.

Award Amount: The average award amount is $888 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $11,544.
