Number of Awards & Eligibility: Six awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in a dentistry program.
  3. Must be a resident of Hawaii.
  4. Must attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university full time (12 credits per semester for undergraduate students; 9 credits per semester for graduate students).
  5. Must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.7 or higher.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Must be a high school graduate or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

Description: This scholarship is available for Hawaii undergraduate and graduate students who have a grade point average of 2.7 or higher. Students must be enrolled in a school of dentistry, dental hygiene or dental assisting.

Additional Information: This scholarship fund commemorates the life of Dr. John H. Dawe, who, with loyalty and dedication, served the Hawai'i Dental Association and the Honolulu County Dental Society during most of his professional life. All applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.

Award Amount: Approximately $3,000 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $18,000.
