Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a citizen or resident of the U.S. or Canada OR be enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the U.S. or Canada.
  3. Must be an undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. Applicants with lower grade point averages may be considered if they have otherwise outstanding qualifications or extenuating circumstances.
  5. Must reside in the Long Island/New York area.
  6. Must be studying ornamental horticulture at a community college or a four-year institution.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. and Canadian undergraduate students in the Long Island/New York area studying ornamental horticulture at a community college or a four-year institution. Students must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the Long Island Flower Growers Association (LIFGA) Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Transcript
Additional Information: The LIFGA scholarship was established in 2010. LIFGA members represent growers and retailers promoting research, education and sales of ornamentals in the local market. Each student who has won a scholarship will be sent a notification letter by U.S. mail. Scholarship decisions will be made by August of each year.

Award Amount: $1,400 annually, non-renewable. All scholarships are provided as cash awards with checks issued jointly in the name of the recipient and the college or institution he/she will be attending in the fall.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,400.
