Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Foundation/ Sigma Theta Tau International, Inc. (Sigma)

Number of Awards & Eligibility: 22 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be an ENA member for a minimum of 12 months immediately prior to applying.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be an emergency registered nurse.
  6. Must major in nursing.
  7. Must pursue a Masters of Science in nursing.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for emergency registered nurses who are pursuing a Masters of Science degree in nursing and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Students must be members of the ENA.

Additional Information: The following are the named Master's scholarships: Stryker Scholarship: Master’s in Healthcare or Related Field;Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) Scholarship; California State Council – Karen Grove Memorial Scholarship; Kentucky State Council – Kentucky ENA Founders Scholarship; New Jersey State Council – Emergency Care Scholarship; New Jersey State Council – New Jersey State Challenge Scholarship; West Central Chapter (NJ) - Jeanette Ash Memorial Scholarship; New York State Council - Empire State Challenge Scholarship; Maryland State Council – Maryland ENA State Council Scholarship; Mississippi State Council – Mississippi Magnolia Scholarship; Tennessee State Council - Bright Angels Memorial Scholarship; Texas State Challenge - Vicki Patrick Legacy Scholarship (TX); ENA Foundation State Challenge Scholarships; Physio-Control, Inc. Scholarship; Gisness Advance Practice Scholarship; and the Karen O’Neil Memorial Scholarship. The criteria for determining awards are as follows, in descending priority: content/clarity of goal statement (45 percent); professional association involvement (45 percent); and grade point average, with emphasis placed on science/nursing courses (10 percent). Please note: Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to reapply under the same category (undergraduate, masters, doctoral). However, qualified previous recipients may apply for the next category. ENA members who have served in the immediate past three years on the ENA Board of Directors, ENAF Board of Trustees, or ENAF Scholarship Review Team are ineligible to apply for a scholarship.

Award Amount: One $5,000 award for each of the named scholarships, with the following exceptions: $3,000 for six ENA Foundation State Challenge Scholarships one Gisness Advance Practice Scholarship, and one Karen O'Neil Memorial Scholarship. $2,000 for two Physio-Control, Inc. Scholarships.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,909.

Applications are available online from the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) website. The application must be typewritten, saved as a PDF file, and uploaded through the online application portal.In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: two references (one must be from a current ENA member); proof of acceptance into an undergraduate nursing program (copy of acceptance letter and current transcript); proof of one year or more of pre-hospital work experience (copy of current EMT registration card, or letter from employer); verification of school tuition costs (a copy from the institution's official course catalog is preferred); a biographical data form; and a statement of professional/educational goals (this must include applicability to emergency nursing).All applications and supporting materials must be submitted online prior to the deadline date.
