Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in a master's degree program.
  5. Must be enrolled in a health education program.

Description: This award is available for students enrolled in a master's health education progam with a 3.0 or higher grade point average.

Application requirements for the Barbara A. Cooley Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Personal statement
  • Recommendation letters (3)
  • Resume
Additional Information: The scholarship recipient will be recognized at the annual awards luncheon at the SHAPE America convention. Recipients will also receive a one-year complimentary membership in SHAPE. Prior SHAPE scholarship recipients are ineligible. Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria: professional goals, responsibility to the profession, teaching experience, potential to advance the practice of health education, and calibre of documents. The recipient will be notified in Dec. by the chairperson of the scholarship committee.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
