Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in Kent, Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Ottawa, Montcalm, Muskegon, or Newaygo counties in Michigan.
  2. Must be majoring in emergency services such as emergency medical technician training, paramedic, or firefighter training.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  5. This award is for U.S. students.
  6. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Additional Information: The Grand Rapids Community Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships annually, primarily to Kent County students bound for or in college, or those pursuing a technical career. This scholarship is provided each year on behalf of Harry J. Morris, Jr., and its seeks to aid in the financial costs of a greater Grand Rapids undergraduate student who is preparing for a career in emergency services.

Award Amount: Awards range from $500 to $5,000 depending on the student's unmet need and the availability of funds. Average awards are about $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
