Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  3. Must be a resident of Washington state.
  4. Must be attending or plan to attend a Washington state college or university.
  5. Must be pursuing a journalism degree.
  6. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student to apply.
  7. Must be a minority student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for Washington state high school seniors and undergraduate students who are pursuing a journalism career. Students must attend a Washington college or university.

Application requirements for the AAJA Seattle Northwest Journalists of Color Scholarship are:

  • Personal statement
Additional Information: Since its inception in 1986, more than 100 students from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds have received grants to support their studies.

Award Amount: $2,500, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.
