Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be majoring in or plan to major in engineering, metallurgy, or materials science with plans to have a career in the iron and steel industry.
  5. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll full time.
  6. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate students who are majoring in or planning to major in engineering, metallurgy, or materials science with plans to have a career in the iron and steel industry. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established by Korf Lurgi Steeltec Inc. to honor the late Willy Korf, founder of the Korf Group and a well-known promoter/developer of innovative technology. AIST Foundation Scholarship awards are intended to attract talented and dedicated students and to encourage them to pursue careers within the iron and steel industry. The AIST Foundation Board of Trustees administers the scholarships. Please note: Students do not have to be AIST members or be dependents of AIST members to apply for this award. Scholarship winners will be announced in December.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable. Students may reapply each year. Scholarship recipients will also receive a one-year Material Advantage membership. Through the Material Advantage program, students are members of the following organizations serving the materials science and engineering community: American Ceramic Society (ACerS), Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), ASM International, and The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $12,000.
