Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must reside in and attend school in Travis, Hays, or Williamson counties in TX.
  2. Must be of Hispanic heritage.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  6. Must be majoring in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics).

Description: The SHPE Austin Scholarship is provided for Hispanic students who are planning to major in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). Applicants must be graduating seniors or undergraduate students at a high school or college in the Austin, Texas area. Eligible counties include Travis, Hays, and Williamson, TX.

Additional Information: The SHPE Austin Scholarship is provided annually by the Society of Hispanic Professssional Engineers and is awarded to a Hispanic high school senior or undergraduate student in the Austin, Texas area. Applicants must plan to major in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, and must demonstrate academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Additional preference will be given to students who are current SHPE or SHPE Jr. members. The Austin Community Foundation has provided more than $6.5 million in scholarship awards since the scholarship program began in 1996. Each year, more than 400 new awards worth in excess of $600,000 are provided through a variety of programs designed to assist students in the Austin, Texas area and beyond.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
