Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be a full-time student at an accredited two- or four-year college/university in a program leading to an academic degree.
  5. Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student.
  6. Must major in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or material science.
  7. Must be a member of an American Indian tribe, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or otherwise considered to be an American Indian by the tribe with which affiliation is claimed; or be at least 1/4 American Indian blood; or be at least 1/4 Alaskan Native; or be considered to be an Alaskan Native by an Alaskan Native group to which affiliation is claimed.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian undergraduate and graduate students with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for this award. Students must major in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or materials science.

Additional Information: Please note: Students must be members of AISES to apply. Students may apply for membership prior to applying for the scholarship. Membership information is available online at www.aises.org/membership. College student membership is $25. Complete applications are reviewed by a minimum of three qualified reviewers who score each application based upon factors such as academic performance (grade point average and academic record), the student's personal essay (demonstrates character, commitment, goals), strength of recommendation letters, and other activities the student has undertaken including jobs, volunteer efforts, internships, extracurricular activities, hobbies, etc. Scored applications and reviewer comments are then used by AISES staff and some funders to select scholarship recipients. Students cannot have more than one AISES academic scholarship in any one year.

Award Amount: $5,000 for undergraduate recipients, and $10,000 for graduate students. Awards are offered annually and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $50,000.
