Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
  4. Must be a legal resident of the state of Illinois.
  5. Must have 30 college credit hours or more completed at time of application.
  6. Must enroll full time.
  7. Must be pursuing a degree with an emphasis in real estate.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. college sophomores who are legal residents of the state of Illinois and are pursuing a degree with an emphasis in real estate. The student must have 30 college credit hours or more completed at time of application.

Additional Information: The Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation (ILREEF) is a not-for-profit organization established to aid and promote the work of real estate education throughout Illinois. Thomas F. Seay was President and Chairman of the Board of Seay & Thomas, Inc., realtors, headquartered in Chicago. He served as President of the Chicago Real Estate Board in 1964, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois and National Association of Realtors. He was a member of the International Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, and in 1967 was the Imperial Potentate of North America for the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He was a past President of the Civic Federation, and served as a major fundraiser for the Red Cross, The Boy Scouts, the Crusade of Mercy, United Settlement Appeal, American Cancer Society and the United Cerebral Palsy Campaign. The selection of scholarship recipients will be determined by ILREEF based on the following criteria: indication of interest in pursuing a career in real estate or an allied field (i.e., construction, land use planning, mortgage banking, property management, real estate appraising, real estate assessing, real estate brokerage, real estate development, real estate investment counseling, real estate law, real estate syndication); record of scholastic achievement, including academic grade point average; economic need or situation; and references and recommendations by instructors, employers, realtors and other prominent individuals. If selected as a finalist in the award process the student will be requested to appear for a personal interview in June or July.

Award Amount: Minimum of $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
