Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four scholarships provided annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be enrolled part-time.
  2. Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
  3. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  4. Must have been employed for at least two years by state or local government.
  5. Must be studying public administration, governmental accounting, finance, economics, or business administration.
  6. Must be preparing for a career in state or local government finance.
  7. Must be a graduate student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. and Canadian part-time graduate students who have been employed by a state or local government for two or more years and are preparing for a career in state or local government finance.

Application requirements for the Government Finance Professional Development Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Resume
Additional Information: The Government Finance Professional Development Scholarship of $10,000 is available for award to one or more employees of a state or local government enrolled in part-time graduate study preparing for a career in state and local government finance. The winner(s), if selected, will be invited to attend the Government Finance Officers Association’s annual conference, where the award will be presented. The winner(s) will receive a complimentary annual conference registration and transportation costs to the conference and hotel accommodations.

Award Amount: $10,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $40,000.
