Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
  3. Must be pursuing a career in state and/or local government finance.
  4. Must be currently enrolled full time in a graduate program.
  5. Must have earned a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent at time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. and Canadian graduate students who are pursuing a career in state and/or local government finance. Students must be currently enrolled full time in a graduate program and must expect to be enrolled in the semester of application (including students who will be graduating).

Application requirements for the Daniel B. Goldberg and Miller Public Finance Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The Daniel B. Goldberg Scholarship is funded by the Girard Miller Foundation. The following criteria will be used in selecting a recipient: plans to pursue a career in state or local government finance; strength of past coursework and present plan of study; letters of recommendation; and undergraduate and graduate grade point averages. Applicants will be notified in writing on or before April 30 of the committee's final decision. The winner, if one is selected, will be invited to attend the GFOA's annual conference where the award will be presented. The GFOA will provide a complimentary annual conference registration and pay for transportation costs to Seattle and hotel accommodations. Past winners of a scholarship program administered by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada are not eligible to apply.

Award Amount: $20,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.
