I really loved my experience at STLCC. it is your typical community college so extracurricular activities are not really a big deal. You are not getting university living here, but it is affordable and the professors are very supportive. I would highly recommend anyone looking to start college or go back to college to start at a community college, particularly STLCC.

The Saint Louis Community College is an awesome opportunity to start my post-secondary career. Not only they are sweet to my parents wallet but they have awesome teachers. It is a good way to get the basic classes out of the way then transfer to a more expensive University. STLCC has a variety of programs in which I can obtain my associate degree which means it will help me get a good paying job faster then transfer to a University to finish the last 2 years and not have to owe so much money.

I absolutely love it there. I was nervous at first because it's been awhile since I've been in school. But after starting Dr. Blanco's English 101; I grew confidence. I like the advisors because the will not let you leave their office until your problem is solve.

Great facility to expand your horizons and become a professional. The school is official enough to satisfy all student/parent/teacher needs and the improvements made are even more of a blessing. Nothing but prosperity comes from this college so I have no bad reviews!

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

When I look back at myself as a senior in high school I now see how unprepared I was for college. I expected it to be an extremely boring walk in the park. I didnt get excited about going to college at all just because it was a community college. I spent the whole summer slumping around because all my friends were leaving and going to big universities and I was stuck at home just because I didnt have enough money to move away just yet. I spent most of my first semester stuck in the same funk because I thought community colleges were a joke. Once I finally decided to give it a chance I really enjoy community college and wish I hadnt wasted so much time. If I would have started getting involved when I started taking classes there as a high school senior I would have realized how much community colleges have to offer. I would have loved to take full advantage of some of the opportunities that I missed out on like trying out for the softball team. Basically never make assumptions, take full advantage of every opportunity given to you.

  3. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have known how incompetent and unhelpful the Financial Aid office is here. When I had some quick questions, I had to spend hours in the waiting room before I was finally able to meet with an unhappy and miserable financial aid officer, not once, but on 4 different occasions!

  7. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

St. Louis Community College was very unique in the way that people in your classes would range from ages 18-80. Having all different ages in almost every class made it more interesting because you would get to hear many different perspectives during group discussions. I don’t think that happens very often in more traditional colleges. I think that as a St. Louis Community College graduate I got a more diverse experience than all of my friends who went to traditional 4-year colleges right after high school.

  9. What's unique about your campus?

The classes are filled with adult students , who appear to be very focused on finishing college , attaining their degree . Being that we all happen to be older students , I find we can relate to one another much better . Through conversation I've learned helpful study materials , programs I could look into for my major , various scholarship info , and like minded individuals who are just as focused . Being surrounded by positive peers , working towards the same goals as myself is inspiring to me .

  12. What kind of person should not attend this school?

I think someone who is unsure what direction they're life is headed in , not sure if they want to attend college shouldn't be in this institution . The professors seem to have no tolerance for excuses , only interested in helping the students who really want to learn .
