Before coming to St. Cloud State University, I wish I had known about all the services and resources that were available to me as a student, especially as a first year student with no prior knowledge of campus functions. By simply knowing what services are offered and what resources are provided for me such as the Career Services Center and the Department of Student Services, I wouldn’t have spent most of my free time cooped up in my dorm when I could have spent it being productive and active and enjoying campus events and workshops.

DO SOMETHING! Besides meeting new people the most important thing is it just do something, even if you end up not liking it. Join an activity, or just go to one meeting but fish out what you find interesting it really makes the college experience that much better! Plus, you find people with similar interests!

There really isn't too much I wish I would have known. I did a lot of research on this university before I committed to go. I wish I would have known how competitive the Nursing program is. I thought that the program pretty much accepted everyone who applied. However, I learned from personal experience it is a very competitive program and less than half get in that apply.

For me high school waas easy, almost too easy at times. Mainly because I did not challenge myself hard enough and took all the easy classes just to pass the class. I wish I would have known as to what exactly the college atmosphere is like. For example what is the typical workload that a student has, or what classes should I take that will prepare me for college. If I had sought more information from my high school counselor that would have helped me out a lot with the transitioning between high school and college.

Before attending St. Cloud, I wish I would have known how many scholarship opportunities there were and are for incoming freshmen. St. Cloud is more on the cheap side when it comes to cost, and it provides so many scholarship opportunities to help minimize your costs even more. Also, I wish I would have known more about the community. I am still learning and there is alot of ways in doing so, but I wish I would have known more about the community coming in, because that allows for a greater understanding on volunteer opportunities.

It is very cliquey. Hard to make friends because everyone that goes to school here went to high school together. I didn't go to high school around here so it is a lot harder for me to make friends without feeling like i'm "intruding" on groups.
