I love being able to attend sporting events at SCSU for free! With my student ID I've been able to sit front row at D1 Men's Hockey games. This is really cool, because I love watching sports, and SCSU makes it so easy to be involved.

When I talk to my friends about my school, they usually say it's a party school but it's not. I usually brag about the organization I am in; the Hmong Student Organization. In Minnesota, their are many Hmong Student Organizations but our organization is actually more livelier and active than others. I know this for a fact because of the Concordia Conference in St. Paul when a bunch of organizations gathered, and we had the most and were very loud. : D

I don't really brag about my school because I think school is school you either like it or you don't. I also don't like to brag about things because it makes other people feel bad. Different schools provide different things based on their students interests. Before I came to this school everyone said it was a party school but when you live here there really isn't many parties. It's all in what you make of it.

The thing I like to tell people most about SCSU is the study abroad opportunities I am considering. SCSU has a unique opportunity for students to study in a castle in Alnwick, England. Through the Honors Program, honors students also have the opportunity to study at Oxford. Definately an impressive piece to throw into a conversation.

I am mostly an online learner. I like being an online learner because I can mostly go at my own pace while still raising five children and working full time through my current employer. Going online is a little more expensive but well worth it to still be around for my children.

I tell my friends about how great the academic programs are at our school, the teachers at my school are commited to their work and willing to help the students. The school provides a lot of support for academics such as tutoring places for all subjects, and academic advisors, and also our library. I also brag about our library because it is a really nice big place to study in, they have private rooms that students can study in, and nice computer for students to use.

I tell my friends how great the Honors program is. Despite having about 17,000 students on campus, the small discussion-oriented Honors classes give this huge state college a private college feel. Also, living in the dorms with other Honors students is great - I easily made many new friends simply because we live so close to each other and have many of the same classes! Sharing classes and experiences with people makes the college transition much easier and more fun, and the Honors program brings new as well as returning students together.

I tell about the excellent proffesors I have been taught by. That a tough instructor pushes and encourages you to become successful, and not give up on education. The importance of the value an education has on your future. Also the great speaker that come to my college campus to talk about different ethical issues that we are facing, and ways that "us" the next generation can change. It is a priveledge to go go those meeting and learn some new information, plus it is absolutely free of charge. My college is place to further the education you dreamed about.
